Accounts and sync

What an account adds, what local-only means, and how platform defaults differ.

No account required

You can create, view, edit, import, and export records locally without signing in. Records made in local-only mode are not synchronized to a Datacea account.

What an account adds

An account lets Datacea synchronize records between supported devices and provides access to the assistant Datacea operates. Signing in does not remove import, export, or continued local access.

Different platform defaults

The desktop and installed mobile applications keep a full local copy by default and synchronize when connected. The web application is server-first by default after sign-in and retains less data on the device. Offline scope can be changed in Settings.

Conflicts and reconnection

Installed clients are designed to accept local changes while offline and synchronize them after reconnection. Avoid editing the same record independently on multiple disconnected devices when the exact ordering matters.

Ending use of a hosted service must not make your local records read-only. Export remains part of the free local application.
